Dear parents, carers and families
Like many others around the country, all at Farnborough Spencer Academy express our deepest sympathies for the passing of Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II. Her dedication to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and to her other realms and territories is unparalleled and we thank her for her service. This is clearly an historic and sad time.
Farnborough Spencer Academy will observe the mourning period but we will also be open, so that we can continue to support our students, families and staff. Scheduled activities and events will continue as planned, unless we become aware of a reason not to. Should it fall on a weekday, we will observe the national holiday scheduled for Her Majesty’s funeral. Outside of this our hours will continue as normal.
Today, we will be asking staff, students and visitors to observe a two minute period of quiet reflection, and tutors will be sharing some slides prepared to help reflect on Her Majesty’s life during today’s tutor time. This will give students and staff some time to pause and consider Her Majesty’s life and service.
If you think your child may be experiencing particular upset due to the passing of The Queen, please do let us know so we can provide additional support if needed.
It is expected that there will be significant disruption across the UK, during this period, therefore we will keep you up to date should there be any further changes. If there is anything further we can support you with, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Academy.
Yours sincerely,
Mr G Smith
Principal
