Dear Parent/Carer,
Important update regarding face coverings
As you are aware Covid cases are still surging in Nottingham and as a consequence the City and wider county have been placed under tighter restrictions by the government.
For The Farnborough Academy, this will mean that after half-term (From 3rd November 2020 following the half term break and the November 2nd INSET day) all students and staff at Farnborough will be required to wear a face covering when moving around the site and in communal areas (in their bubbles, when not eating, at break and lunch).
This is the statement directly from the government this week which we are following:
“Where pupils in year 7 and above are educated, face coverings should be worn by adults and pupils when moving around the premises, outside of classrooms, such as in corridors and communal areas where social distancing cannot easily be maintained” – DFE Oct 2020.
To be clear to all students, parents and staff members, unless medically exempt it will be mandatory for anyone on site to wear a face covering when entering and exiting the building, when moving around the building and when in the canteen/sportshall and not eating or drinking. We will also be enforcing this expectation in practical technology lessons as students need to move around the rooms more in order to complete activities and in the PE changing rooms when changing for PE lessons.
Face coverings should be a plain covering and should not be a bandana or scarf. A face mask is ideal. On the odd occasion where a student loses their mask, we will have a supply of spare replacement masks available in emergency.
If you feel your child is exempt from wearing a face mask (e.g. for a medical reason), please email admindept@thefarnboroughacademy.com stating your child’s name and year group along with the reason for exemption. We will then be able to share this information with all members of staff.
I would like to thank you in advance for supporting us with this change in policy as you have supported us throughout this period of time.
Yours faithfully,
Mr Jobling
