November 2021
Dear parents, carers and families,
Face coverings at Farnborough Spencer Academy
As you will be aware, the UK Government has issued new guidance around the wearing of face coverings at schools, with effect from Tuesday November 30th.
In accordance with this guidance, we will expect our students, staff and visitors to wear face coverings in communal areas. This includes, corridors, changing rooms, the hall (when not eating and drinking) and other parts of the school, including some practical lessons. This will ensure our community is kept safe. This does not apply to those with a medical exemption.
Although face coverings are not compulsory in classrooms and we do not expect this to return, students may continue to wear them if they wish.
We have worked hard since the start of the pandemic to keep our school community safe, and we are keen for that to continue. This will require your ongoing support.
Please note, that we do not have a high stock of disposable face coverings to lend students, so please support the Academy by ensuring your child brings their own.
Year 11 Parents Evening
We have Year 11 parents’ evening tomorrow evening (Tuesday November 30th). We intend to continue with this event, but will ask that all parents and family members attending wear a face covering. We would also request that all parents and family members attending complete a lateral flow test before attending.
We have made plans to spread the event over more rooms so that we can social distance safely.
Many thanks for your support, at this challenging time. Working together, we can keep our whole community safe – and I know that “Team Farnborough” will rise to the challenge.
Yours sincerely,
Graeme Smith
Principal
